Artist: Franz Ferdinand
Song: Take me out
Album: Franz Ferdinad
Another new wave band (Indie/Post-punk), Franz Ferdinant (named after the Austria-Hungarian Archduke whose death sparked World War I) are a Scottish band who first gained critical acclaim with their single ‘Take me out’ from their eponymous debut album. They’ve released three albums with their first being a personal favourite. I’ve been following them since I heard the song in early 2004. The video is pretty trippy too. Despite the upbeat tune and guitar riffs, the song is an ode to the last minutes of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. They’re a very creative band, regularly mixing Russian avant-garde imagery into their concept albums and music videos. In conclusion, give them a listen if you don’t already.
Best Lyrics:
So if you're lonely
You know I'm here waiting for you
I'm just a crosshair
I'm just a shot away from you
You know I'm here waiting for you
I'm just a crosshair
I'm just a shot away from you
